The Polish Audiovisual Centre Foundation (FPCA) was founded by the Board of the Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce in December 2005. The main reason for establishing the foundation was to entrust the Media Desk Poland`s (Media Desk Polska) office with its lead. However, at the very beginning the Founder planned the Polish Audiovisual Centre Foundation`s development to support independent productions and further building of cinema industry in Poland.
In order to carry these plans out, in June 2007 the Foundation started two operational programmes („The Individual Professionalization” and „The Promotion of the Polish Cinema Worldwide – the Individual Programme”) aiming at allowing representatives of film professions – in the broad sense – to participate in international film events, from trainings and workshops through the promotion of the Polish cinema at festivals and special screenings to participating in conferences and discussion panels.
Except for the operational programmes, in the years 2006 – 2013 the Polish Audiovisual Centre Foundation (FPCA) was running the above-mentioned and appreciated by the European Commission as well as the Polish Film Institute (PISF), Media Desk Poland (Media Desk Polska). In 2009 the Foundation developed assumptions of the National Programme for Digitisation of Cinemas – D-cinema being its working title – that became the basis for the programme for digitisation of cinemas in Poland.
The Foundation, as instructed by the Polish Filmmakers Association, developed assumptions of the building the large Film Studios in Poland (2006-2007) and together with the Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce, in the years 2007-2012, it ran the project entitled the Regional Audiovisual Initiative (RIA) that developed an idea to increase the number of financial sources for the Polish cinematography through starting Regional Film Funds in Poland.
Since 2008 the Polish Audiovisual Centre Foundation has been creating (in collaboration with the Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce) Audiowizualni.pl website aimed at Polish professionals in terms of feature, documentary and animation films, commercials and television programmes production. It is the only Polish website for audiovisual industry, gathering and systematizing – through building databases – information on the film market, publishing developed information material significant for professionals, bringing closer their profiles, specialist literature, scientific works in the field of film and audiovisual production. Audiowizualni.pl website is a partner of many educational and branch initiatives as well as film events.
In 2012 the Polish Audiovisual Centre Foundation was one of the Film Commission Poland`s initiators. Currently, under an agreement signed by the Polish Film Institute (PISF), the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP), the Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce (KIPA) and the Polish Audiovisual Centre Foundation (FPCA), it is responsible for the Film Commission Poland – a mechanism for the foreign promotion of film, touristic and investment potential as well as our country`s cultural heritage, common for all Polish regions.
