Studio A is an independent production company established in 1994 by Alicja Resich-Modlińska, Jan Dworak, and Maciej Strzembosz. It specializes in production of TV series, feature films, TV shows, talk shows, and quiz shows. For many years now the company has been cooperating with the same group of eminent Polish and foreign filmmakers in project development, screenplays, and production. Since mid-2007 Studio A has belonged to ATM Group S.A. In ’90s Studio A produced: 164 episodes of live call-in TV show “Trzy kwadraty” for Polsat TV station (1996-1999); 45 episodes of the first talk show on public TV „Wieczór z Alicją” with Alicja Resich-Modlińska (1994-1996); 61 episodes of Alicja Resich-Modlińska’s programme „Bliskie spotkania” (1994-1998); 24 episodes of one of the major talk shows Siedem pokus produced for RTL-7 (1996-1997); and the first Polish sitcom Bar Atlantic. Between 1997-2000 Studio A was making “Przytul mnie” – highly successful and popular programme for Polsat TV.
Company’s most popular productions are comedy series, such as: “Kasia i Tomek” (2002-2003), produced for TVN, awarded with Telekamera in 2003; “Miodowe lata” – created for Polsat TV 1998-2003 and in 2001 awarded Melonik Prize at the Dobry Humor festival in Gdańsk in the category the best comedy series; “Camera Café” (2004), produced for TVN, received a special jury award at the Dobry Humor festival in Gdańsk 2004; “Dziupla Cezara” – produced in 2004 for Polsat; “Halo Hans!” – produced in 2007 for Polsat, nominated in 2008 at the International Festival Rose d’Or in Lucern in the sitcom category; “Ranczo” (2006-2008), four seasons produced for TVP1, repeatedly awarded, e.g. with TeleKamera and Super TeleKamera of TeleTydzień weekly magazine in 2009, Gold Star in 2008 for best non-medical comedy series at the Festiwal Gwiazd in Międzyzdroje, 2007 Gold Horseshoe at the Film Festival Wakacyjne Kadry in Cieszyn for best comedy series, and also Grand Prix Błękitny Melonik Charliego at the Dobry Humor festival in Gdańsk.
Studio A also produced TV entertainment programmes: “Happy Hour” for TV4 (2007-2009); „Przytul mnie mocniej” for Play Television (2008); “Orzeł czy reszta?” – a programme by Monika Richardson about foreigners in Poland for TVP (2008-2009) and “Męski punkt widzenia” (episodes 7-12) for Polsat Café (2009). As for cinema feature films the company has made such films as “Ranczo Wilkowyje” directed by Wojciech Adamczyk, “Xero” directed by Maciej Odoliński, “Blok.pl” directed by Marek Bukowski, and award-winning Weiser directed by Wojciech Marczewski. Studio A belongs to the group of companies, which have recorded the most dynamic growth in the past three years of activity. In 2009 the company received honorable mention in the 3rd edition of the ‘Forbes Diamonds’.
