Wytwórnia Filmów Fabularnych i Dokumentalnych (WFDiF) was established in 1949 and currently is celebrating its 60th anniversary. In the initial period of its activity WFDiF produced documentary films and the Polska Kronika Filmowa (newsreel). In 1961 it also began producing feature films.
The company not only realizes own film productions, but also provides a full range of film services to other companies and institutions:
Picture Technique Department – postproduction services in Digital Intermediate technology. Other services provided: offline and online editing, colour correction, footage restoration, archival materials, addition of special film effects, film credits and titles, preparing of master print, analog or digital electronic version in TV and HD resolution (1080i, 1080p, [24p and 25p], 720 p), Digital Cinema Masters (projection in digital cinema), promotion materials for films: trailers of feature and TV films distributed on Internet, television, in cinemas and on DVD. ZTZ also rents technical equipment: film cameras 35 mm, (e.g. ARRI 535B, ARRI BL 4S), shooting set of XDCAM with Sony PMW-EX1 camera, and, since April 2009, with Red One camera.
Motion Picture Laboratory provides services regarding full negative’s processing. These include: development of negative materials from digital carriers (ARRI Laser), colour correction on ‘Lustre’ from Discreet Logic with reference to digital projection and carried out of exploitation prints.
Editing and Sound Department provides postproduction sound services: from recording of post- synchronises, dialogues, and atmospheres (additionally, this department owns sounds database) to digital sound editing in ProTools, to film projections, to final sound mixing and recording in different kinds of formats DOLBY (analog SR, digital SRD, digital Surround Ex) and DTS format.
Scene Design Department provides rental of production rooms and offices (make-up rooms, costume rooms). It also offers a wide range of costumes, props, furniture, which are stored and secured for film production rental. Scene Shop rents sound stages (two rooms of 600m2), film studios (450m2, 220m2, and 96m2) and also technician rooms next to the sound stage. Moreover it provides a master carpenter and a team of highly qualified scenic carpenters. Vehicle Department rents power aggregates for shooting sets (from 75-200 kVA with service stuff) and cars/vans.
